Nashik onion export season: what buyers should know
October 2026Onion Export
Maharashtra produces onions in three seasons: Kharif (harvested October to December), late Kharif (January to March) and Rabi (March to May). Rabi onions have the best keeping quality and are stored in traditional chawls for supply through the monsoon months.

For buyers in the Gulf and Southeast Asia, the best time to book long-term contracts is during the Rabi harvest, when quality is high and prices are usually stable. Kharif onions have a deeper red colour but a shorter shelf life, so they suit shorter transit routes.
Export policy for onions can change at short notice, so we update our buyers on minimum export price and duty changes as soon as they are announced.
